Of desire — Ibrahim Sheme

Bursting from the lap of the earth
Enwebbed in mystery
Probing in the crevasses
Of desire,
Questing for things that have a body
Up, spiral tall and tough.

Within this gloom
I extricate myself
From psychic fog, ephemeral murk
And the jampacked chambers
Of desire.

A washed from gory visions
Found in soullic imprisonment
With a glint in the eye
Of abrupt realisation
And self-identification, my teeth.
Flash in the sun
Of desire.

And my fingers intercept
The passing waves of time
Probing in the turbulent waters of
the heart
Once in a while catching
Things with a body —
Reeds
And fishlets
Of desire.
