Original poetry

Folly of Not Knowing

From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.

Eskimos may start buying snow
And princess to her servant bow
Falcons may now hang with chickens
And eagles whom storms now frighten.

Oceans might foolishly venture
Into deserts for adventure
Fish could start fleeing waters
To land, for: yellow gold glitters

Some seas may even die of thirst
And the sun shiver in cold mist.
Without knowing; abides folly
With me; goes deeper the gully

I increase the earth’s pilgrims’ plight
I block the path and shut the light
I stumble you at every chance
Yet I’m small feeble ignorance

Knowledge is one strong strange fellow
Without which young princes may starve
And with which a wretched may carve
Honours to which all men will bow

Editor’s note: First drafted in the early Vic’Adex voice and preserved here as part of the Words on Rampage archive.
