Hymn to the Ancient City of Benin
Hail renowned City, who with deed surpassed all
So countless warriors defeated, before the City to fall
Amidst Afric race, fearless heroes produce
In every combat, shame to opponents reduce
Still envied remains, but to the glory of past
Pound still are gods, who lots of battle forecast
Tried shameless ruin, changing times of history
Those time tested customs, so the ageless story.
