Protest of October 1991 — Kabir U. Muhammad

Typhoons have less fury
Than storms of thoughts
Crossing my mind
The society devouring
Liver of its young
My ignorant society of rags
Passivity and squalor
A million stars flash
before my eyes
Receiving the slap of betrayal
Let me love Islam
Let me love you in Islam
Let me work Islam with you
Be pious muslims with my hand
Clasp tightly in your hand
My dormant, docile, sterile society
Passengers in boat of inertia
Receivers of cruel master’s whip
Intellectual enterprises -clogging
customs
Flogging adherence to atrocity
Of silence and collaboration
With super-ossified customs
Leaving on backward rolling pur-
suits
A thousand sledgehammer squad
Seems at work in my head
Stupid chieftains
Elders and judges
Who with red hot stigma
branded man hopeless
Lazy, symbolic, servile aristocrats
Arrogant thieving bureaucrats
Your crimes hurts me
Like megaton Nagasaki’s experience
Your excesses reek to highest galax-
ies
Your moral mess a tremendous
quake
