A Mere Spectacle

From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.

Is life really a staged stadium?
With Fate’s trident on the podium?
And gods watch on in cruel delight,
In shadows beyond human light?

If we are mere puppets of fate,
What usefulness have we for faith?
What use then have we for free will,
If we’ve been marked as fate’s dead kill?

Is life then a mere spectacle?
Is free will our fate’s obstacle?
And those that reached its pinnacle
There by chance and random particles?

Yes there must be a place for God
His words, His rules, His spanking rod
But yet, this other part is true
Things seldom work without your cue

Are we then wraiths in hands of fate?
Served to him on gold platter plate?
Though some do say that fate exists,
His dooming mire we can resist!

Editor’s note: First drafted in the early Vic’Adex voice and preserved here as part of the Words on Rampage archive.
