From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.
You may have second-rated me,
Like Mario’s true brother Luigi
Or Silly’s half brother Billy
Even the earth may not let me be,
And tide and time slapping silly
Timid not being lion king bold
Or fit enough to lead the fold
But every new day we behold
Less treasure should the caskets hold
Thinking of us too frail to lead
Sailing the course that justice pleads.
The little hungry mouths to feed
Garnishes life with precious beads.
Canât change the world we have been told
Just sweat the sweat and mine the gold
And love the love, donât catch the cold
Just live the life cast in the mould
This locked idea profits no yield,
But small impacts knead change.
These words some marbles soon should read.
To small changes the world will heed
Less treasure should caskets hold
Garnishes life with precious beads.
Canât change the world we have been told
To small changes the world will heed
Editor’s note: First drafted in the early Vic’Adex voice and preserved here as part of the Words on Rampage archive.
