From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.
My home, beautiful and lovely,
Evolved, sadistic and lonely.
The wickedness of hungry men
Starves development to its end.
Still for more power they yet yearn
The selfishness of leading men
Tearing pockets, but war field mend
The symbol of power ego
Is mask of death of corruption
Justice and truth have long eloped.
Rise, motherland, so long you’ve coped.
The back of heads knows no pillow
Till our eyes find the solution.
No more silent suffering, we feed
‘Tis time to take the change we need
The audacity to dare hope
The tools we need lie in your scope.
That little that lies in your home
Will fight more than Spartacus Rome
No other sweet home can we find
Free and build the one in your mind
Editor’s note: First drafted in the early Vic’Adex voice and preserved here as part of the Words on Rampage archive.
