New Year Poem
From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.
Another astounding and great year meet its end
Fortify your shelter, have your umbrellas mend
There will be heavy storms and great winds you will tend
And as a new gifted year will soon begin
Mend old baskets and purses; bring new ones in intact.
There shall be a large harvest in this great season
Greater men shall be amazed in it.
Lightning bolts shall not take the last seat.
The digger will be trapped in his own pit.
Unguarded strength will never prevail
Untactful speed will knock you off trail
A lion’s head may become its tail
Luck will find the prepared
With success unretired
Stand fast or be fired
Be heady
Be steady
Be ready
Editor’s note: First drafted in the early Vic’Adex voice and preserved here as part of the Words on Rampage archive.
