Freedom Choice

Original poetry

Freedom Choice

From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.

Yesterday the slave masters were gone,
The doors of prisons open wide
Shackles lifted from broken bone
Changes came through like waves and tide

Task drivers driven from the throne
Time to proclaim our human pride
These happened years before I came
Many decades preceded my birth,

Yet things remain petty the same
Lost in the years sabotaged flight
Held down in the third world frame
We’re no longer brazen in locks

But still captive by our mind
Freedom only true knowledge finds.
Liberate the shepherd bound in me.
They strike the freeman and his flock

The prison doors are wide open.
To sit inside is but a choice.
I fight with real deeds and the pen
We in our freedom will rejoice

Mind better equipped than a lion’s den.
I pray thee lend freedom thy voice

Editor’s note: First drafted in the early Vic’Adex voice and preserved here as part of the Words on Rampage archive.
