The changes I want the world to see
Are compromises my life must be
Like a lush island against the sea.
Gandhi’s words minister to me.
Start with the man in the mirror
Correct his flaws: great and minor
Jackson’s melodies met with mine.
I will not murder my conscience
Over ropes of sand and affluence.
I stand to build enough courage
To melt downward whatever rage
Love spawns beyond capacity.
Challenging hopes of audacity
Ideas preceding breakthroughs
Need to be honourably true
And soon enough we’ll overcome
King’s famous dream channels through me.
Against all odds I will triumph
And I will rise beyond the hump
As long as I do not give up
Helping mankind get to the top
