EU-funded COVID-19 misinformation response project for Search for Common Ground
Context
Working Together Against Corona addressed misinformation, rumours and myths around COVID-19 among young people and communities in Northeast Nigeria.
Approach
The project combined secondary-school engagement and focus-group discussions, an inter-school competition at University of Maiduguri radio station, a social-media misinformation campaign, and a creative-video competition for students and young creatives.
Evidence / Results
150 secondary-school participants across 3 schools; 46,594 people reached through the social-media campaign in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe; and over 15,000 people reached through the creative-video competition call. The competition received 16 entries, with 5 shortlisted. School competition teams received scholarship awards of ₦100,000, ₦60,000 and ₦40,000.

The creative-video competition invited students and young creatives in Northeast Nigeria to make videos of three minutes or less about COVID-19 misinformation. The wider social-media campaign also used comics and spoken-word videos, including Decepio, See You Soon and Vaccinate Your Mind.
Youth engagement, interfaith dialogue and creative communication
Vic'Adex Concepts was a programme partner in Search for Common Ground’s ART.38 Youth Circle, which promoted interfaith understanding and collaboration. The related work brought youth engagement, creative media and public conversation into a shared focus on religious tolerance.
Creative contribution
Intolerance, a spoken-word video by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic'Adex), was recognised among the ART.38 Media Competition winners in the Short Video category. The official announcement identifies him as Adetimilehin Inioluwa.
Public conversation
On 2 September 2020, he participated in Search for Common Ground / ART.38’s #HearMeOut Twitter Conference on “The Power of Youth Voices in Promoting Religious Tolerance”.
