About this Collection

Under the Influence is shaped by faith lived under scrutiny. It engages belief as a discipline formed through attention, inquiry, obedience, and endurance.

The poems return repeatedly to the central Christian doctrine of grace, assurance, and calling. These ideas are not treated as slogans or emotional triggers but also as resolutions that have withstood doubt.

This is not a book written for quick reassurance. It asks the reader to remain present, to think carefully, and to consider the cost of belief alongside its beauty.

The collection traces a spiritual journey marked by both conviction and restraint. It acknowledges weakness without celebrating it and faith without romanticizing it.

Under the Influence is offered as serious work. It invites readers who are willing to slow down, to reflect honestly, and to allow faith to be examined rather than merely expressed.

Note to Reader
Around 2015/2016, some of us gathered for a camp meeting at a Baptist campsite. It was one of those seasons marked by long conversations, shared meals, and a deep curiosity about faith and life. In that space, ideas were exchanged freely, and questions were welcomed.

During that time, I remember conversations about the possibilities of light-filled creativity and what it might look like for art, thought, and expression to be shaped by the Spirit of God. Seyi Gbadebo, in particular, had a holy obsession with Bezalel, often espousing on the link between the Spirit and creativity. Those reflections stayed with me long after the camp ended.

Since last year, I have felt prompted to consolidate some of my Christocentric musings and reflections from over the years.

So on my birthday this year, I am giving a gift to the world: a collection of 38 poems that takes the reader from entrance to assurance to questions, hunger, and exhale.

This work is by no means cheap. It will demand that you squeeze it and enjoy its pressed wine.

You can download a copy of the book at no cost using the link below. However, if you feel compelled to send a birthday gift or encourage the author, there is also an option to support with ₦1,000 or ₦3,000 or more

All of these proceeds will go to supporting a foundation that works with rehabilitating young girls entrapped in the dark realities of sex for money.

This is intentional. As a younger man, I struggled deeply with lust in its many variations, and sometimes the humor of God involves restitution in ways we do not fully comprehend at the moment.

Feel free to support by sharing this with those you think will benefit from this book.

Thank you.

So here is the birthday gift.

Completely free.
