EU-funded COVID-19 misinformation response project for Search for Common Ground
Context
Working Together Against Corona addressed misinformation, rumours and myths around COVID-19 among young people and communities in Northeast Nigeria.
Approach
The project combined secondary-school engagement and focus-group discussions, an inter-school competition at University of Maiduguri radio station, a social-media misinformation campaign, and a creative-video competition for students and young creatives.
Evidence / Results
150 secondary-school participants across 3 schools; 46,594 people reached through the social-media campaign in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe; and over 15,000 people reached through the creative-video competition call. The competition received 16 entries, with 5 shortlisted. School competition teams received scholarship awards of ₦100,000, ₦60,000 and ₦40,000.
