  • I could bear — Okechukwu Elo ...

I could bear

I could bear,

To live without dreams,

Floating through sleepless nights

On eyes that never shut;

I could journey lone,

Humming to tuneless tunes,

Without a heart’s longing

That craves the healing warmth of sunshine.

I could forfeit the choicest warmth,

In the wrath of beserk winter nights,

Not knowing what would be,

As heaven’s stars drift out of reach;

But I can’t face a now or moro,

Without your whispers- that much I know;

You are the pulse in all that I do,

I cannot live a day without you.
