BROKEN SYMPHONIES
I.
You needed solace, from the sun’s bitting scorch,
You took shade beneath my shawls,
You were the one who needed shelter,
And I was the giving tree.
II.
Then your hungering eyes searched and searched,
Untill your skewed hands plucked my sole fruit,
You were the one who need sustenance,
And I was the giving tree.
III.
Then the night got piercingly cold,
You chopped me down for wood-fire,
You were the one who needed warmth,
And I was the giving tree.
IV.
You are the only one I wish that I could hate,
The only song I wish I could forget
Yet the only one I can’t but forgive
I hate to say it, but I still love you
V.
Now…even now you’ve sunk deep,
Deeper than the voices in my head,
Even though I feel you don’t deserve me,
I would stick to you like written words to printed pages
VI.
I’m frightened to live with you,
But more frightened to breathe without you,
Que sera sera…if this was meant to be,
Then I will learn to love you with fragments of my broken heart.
