  • Emi na ni- — Adedayo Agarau

Emi na ni-

Emi na ni-

i’m me
Agarau
the smile behind your pain.

I’ve spoken to the kings,
sang for rulers-
they die to listen.

Emi loko tiroko
my tree can make this forest-
i’m a sole being.

The rain of your forest
the heat in your winter
i’m the moon in your night.

The first son
of erinlakatabu
the beat in the heart
of the elephant.

Emi na ni..
Give me words to speak..
