This is not a poem

She used to be my sun
With eyes that sparkle
Smiles that dazzle
Awelewa of golden beauty
Aponbepore of curious novelty
Asake, desiring of tender pampering
She was a goddess
Ravishing in goodness
Radiant with passion
She was an epitome
Of indescribable loveliness
She basks in insatiable wonder
The perfect work of the Artist
Of the greatest Artist there is

But this is not a tale of passion
Now she’s but a taunting hatred
An escaped flaunting gazelle
A walking killing poison
Like a yellow beauty striped with black
Looking delicate and easy on the eye
A beautiful but stinging bee

Amour please be still
And cupid, do hold your peace
Hold your dart, recoil your bow
Did I beg for love
Before you cursed me with it
If you twitch i will bury you in a pit

Hormones be careful
Heart! Stop being a fool
Brain, stop being a mule

My eyes are empty of tears
My heart is empty of love
It is frozen, beyond repair: broken

She was no Cinderella
I was naive, I made a blunder
But it’s gone, it is all over
I’m now the exception to love
A radio with a broken antenna

They all lied, love ain’t real
I wish I could have selective amnesia
Bore and burn you out
Out with the memories, with the thought

I’m riddled to the brink of insanity
Driven to the edge of barbarity
All for love with no clarity
Love ain’t real, love is evil
It is a cancer, it is a cell: sickle
Between the devil and the sea: it is middle
