Virtues
Whoever cultivates virtues in his
house his virtue is overflowing
Whoever cultivates it in his town his
virtue is lasting
Whoever cultivates it in his ‘coun-
try’ his virtue is abundant
Whoever cultivates it in the world
his virtue is universal
Thus by one own personal trials one
knows other people
By one’s town one knows other
towns
By one’s ‘country’ one knows other
countries
By one’s world one knows other
worlds
