From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.
We’re tired of lies and fake promises
Rope of sands, even fatigued policies
Every kid in the nation knows
You’re a liar with broken vows
Broken vows of every kids pledge
Most election bells that have rung
Have yet succeeded in proving me wrong.
We need leaders and not rulers
Not wealth junkies, power addicts
Whose major plan is loot tactics?
We’re dying in Pandora’s Box
While greed stalks our nation like a fox.
Pot bellies pregnant with evil
Their wondrous plan never civil
My parents lived and dined with hope,
And now I sit upon the same slope.
Shall I sow their seeds and not reap the same?
That is a chance to be called insane
Hope is a fairy devoid of strength
All it can give is encouragement
That we may get out of this pit
Is to unite, defile and defeat the menacing beast!
