Philosophy of Hope

Original poetry

Philosophy of Hope

From Greatness Too Is Meant for You, an unpublished 2014 manuscript by Adetimilehin Inioluwa Victor (Vic’Adex). Lightly edited for grammar while preserving the original voice.

Today may be filled with gloom
Where twisted, bitter fears loom
But hope is not dead
Still I will rise

Today with worry is besetting
My strength gasping for air none relenting
Never have I been worse
Holding only to a relic of hope

Elephant ears would not hear my pleas
Trouble relishing in glee
But today will end
And new joy flows with the morning

Today presents me with despair,
Intimidating failure too appears
But out of this abyss
I will still arise

By all means necessary
I’ll kill failure’s laughs
Out of the darkness covering me
I won’t slumber, won’t let it be

With the call of time,
Hope will arise
When success comes
Stories will abound

From now onward
I will overcome
Despite it all
Still I will arise

Editor’s note: First drafted in the early Vic’Adex voice and preserved here as part of the Words on Rampage archive.
