Adoring the dead

I rose from my nocturnal voyage
Aloof from the living day light
As the tentacles of the rays of the morning sun
Pierce through the crevices of my hut’s shutter
I arise!
I gazed up at the sky
I looked intensively at the cloud
Clustering together in bright rainbow colours
Blue, white, green, yellow, red!
In the glamour of the gathering cloud
I caught the sun’s embryo
Kowtowing to your coming soul
Announcing your demise to God’s own palace!
To be crowned as a princess!!

In my vicinity, I searched myself
Why hasn’t granny’s aged cock crow?
A crow that has always cut-short my dreams
Why muted came the daily grumblings of the
Domestic fauna each ransacking for its meal?
Rare morning, sorrowful morning
Threatening your living soul!

‘Obituary’ came the answer in the dailies
I devoured your prettiness in my mind
In your eyes radiates nothing but emotions
Feelings that caught me like red steel
Melting the hard-stoned love I harboured
Lynda! I read aloud
Only to be responded by the resonating
Echoes of my pulse
My eyes went misty
My heart overwhelmed with tormentations
But what torment? I quizzed
Instinctively it downed on me
I knew I was…
In love with a being that has answered
The call to mortality!

My eyes’ shutter dropped flimsily
I wish I could weep like a child
To elude the bitter feelings that
Clothed my mind
I then prayed to the Lord
‘Sleep peace in God’s unreserved abode’
‘Adieu, Lynda!’
‘A rare gem’
