Citizen at three

A survivor in times so hard
Staying sane when others go mad
Avoiding the slinging of mud
In pursuit of truth all the same
Distortion of facts media must tame
Before the nation becomes lame.

May the closure bell never ring
For Citizen no axe shall swing
Editorial courage it shall bring
Every week to teeming readers
Sound advice for political leaders
And business news for economic
dealers.

Columnists write without fear
Defending views they hold dear
Poets’ nest for poets with flair
Definitions in humour for hearts so
light
Private eye defends human rights
A grapevine without oversight.

Adverts drought will come to pass
Brighter days our readers forecast
For Citizen no die is cast
Pillar of truth it has become
All views are always welcome
All obstacles it shall overcome.
