31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 5- SO I BECAME- by Charles Prince

So I became

That child on the cover of New York Times

The symbol of childhood

Fathered by pain of bullets

And detonated bombs

So I became

The island in a sea of blood

Sourced by anger and ignorance

Propelled towards grieve

For a time that will never be

A time that will have me in mothers arms

So I became

The one that will be silent

To the screams of loneliness

And want of that kiss of I adore you

So I became

Me

The one waiting for the sun in this night

For the moon is not enough
