Love gone
How can I dip my fingers,
While the waves groan and roar,
In life’s dark and angry rivers,
And control their uproar?
A few fish dance on the waves,
And the rhino, fat as the hill,
On stream-side grasses laves;
Oh, touch my heart and feel!
The silent stare of the moon,
As we on irate waves row,
With my companion — boon,
Makes the fins on me grow.
How did you really know,
That I could endure the pain,
That it’d evaporate like snow,
Tho’ it would return again?
Now I do not understand love
Anymore; you were a dream,
I can stare at the stars above,
As I row on this dangerous stream.
