Nature discriminated
Who says undergentlemanly act
Passion does not lurk around
Imagine my surprise to find
The impeccable man-of taste
Of decorum coloured mien and garb
In his room of reclining dame
Whose retinue of passion
Of measured looks
And languid movements
Irradiate friendlier affinities
With that “archetypal puritan”
As I was seeing her off to the door
My darting eyes scanned his face
To meet the walls of gentle mask
Nature traverses in various ways
To echo its natural traits:
Concupiscence hidden in garb
Conjugal bliss in marriage vow
Whether descended in lust, debased
On passion vented
On coverlets of nuptial bed
In the joy of connubial bliss
Good old nature wins the day.
