This Lagos!
I’ve never been to a place like this
before
A place where pleasure and pain
Are evenly yoked
Glamorous people with glamorous
lifestyles
Downtrodden masses with pitiable
lifestyles
Scheming and struggling for sur-
vival
I’ve never been to a place like this
before
A place where houses are buried
In a maze of iron protectors
And streets have gates that are locked
at nights
For fear of armed robbers and hired
assassins
Lagos is an open prison
The warders are men of the under-
world
The rest of us, their eternal prison-
ers.
