Papa said you were a mistake
All he wanted was a male
Mama couldn’t understand
To her, your dream is a big joke.
You look in the mirror and wonder,
Why can’t they see?
Why can’t they look beyond?
Beyond the wretch and scarce.
Deep inside you know you’ll win
Someday you’re gonna shine
You see a winner in the mirror
You are focused on the ribbon
So when their words bring fear and doubt
And that image blurs in the mirror
Wipe your tears and look again
Cause, no one sees you like you do.
